Releasing Today: My Translation of Terminal

Some of you may not know I translate fiction from German when I'm not busy writing. The latest is out today, I'm happy to report: Terminal by Mike Powelz is a psychological mystery of death and murder set in a Hamburg hospice and a bestseller in Germany.

Terminal is now available as ebook and paperback. Find out more on my Translation page.

Road Pics from Researching The Other Oregon

I wanted to share a few pics (from many) that I took while on the road in Central and Eastern Oregon researching The Other Oregon. These fit no theme and don't necessarily reflect scenes in the novel — I just like them. You might know the locations or can give it a guess. Big hint: they're revealed in the captions and include areas in or near Antelope, Prineville, Fossil, the Painted Hills, John Day, Mitchell, and Imnaha.

Liberated Reviewed in May Historical Novels Review

Liberated: A Novel of Germany, 1945 is reviewed in the May 2015 issue of the Historical Novels Review published by the Historical Novel Society in print and online. Here's an excerpt:

"Anderson flavors Liberated with the kind of language found in other noir novels and films, emphasizing the genre with a brutal and unethical crime for Kaspar to resolve. The novel exposure of an under-represented historical period in American history suggests that some of the Occupation forces were not the good guys bringing democracy to the previously dictator state. If you like reading about World War II, you will enjoy reading about its immediate aftermath. If you like the noir novels and films of the mid-20th century, you will enjoy the prose and the femme fatale of Liberated."

New Novel Coming May 19: The Other Oregon

The next novel is a new direction for me, and I can't be more excited about its release.

In The Other Oregon: A Thriller, an idealist from the city of Portland has to stop his estranged friend in rural Oregon from exposing a grim and damning secret from their past.

The official release is May 19. Pre-ordering is now available for the paperback version and the ebook and audiobook are coming soon. Find out more here, including pre-order links.

A Goodreads Giveaway runs through May 13—or, see the book's Goodreads page

Expect readings to come this summer, listed on the Events page once they're booked.

The Other Oregon might be a new direction—and the last book for some time—but I'll still be writing books set in the chaos of mid-century Europe. The stories of Harry Kaspar from Liberated and his brother Max from The Losing Role will continue.
